What's an all-weather floor mat?

All-weather mats Not to belabor the obvious but all-weather floor mats are thicker and provide more protection against the stuff you track into the cabin of your vehicle. As you might expect, all-weather floor mats are made from durable, pliable synthetic materials. These bad boys also have tall outer walls to contain unwanted dirt, mud and wet. All-weather mats are pretty easy to clean too. Just give them a good hosing and they're good for more abuse.

What's a carpet floor mat?

Carpeted floor mats, as the name implies, are like a thick area rug for your vehicles carpeted interior. They are made from carpeting materials and come in colors, patterns designed to both beautify and protect your vehicle's floor. Carpeted floor mats replace or surpass your floor mats that came with your vehicle. They are thicker than factory mats and resist the crush of everyday wear and tear better than factory mats. Here's a little secret. Sometimes you can get carpet samples from a carpet store to use as mats. They are cheaper, and work great.

Air Filters Tips

What does an air filter do anyway? The job of an air filter is to keep the dirt out of your engine while allowing vital air to flow into the engine. This has been the way of the auto world since the spark plug. The system works OK, in its way, but over time, of course, the dirt collected, another word for filtering, clogs up the paper (or foam) filter, reducing air flow along with your engine's performance. You get lower horsepower, torque, and throttle response. Basically imagine wearing one of those surgical masks 24/7 for months or when the hairs in your nose…uh, well, you get the idea. Some race drivers run without an air filter to maximize performance, but this is not recommended for your low-performance street vehicle. (Though it might be fun to try for a while.)

Fender Flares Tips

Before you can put the mounting tape on the underside of the flare, you have to clean it with methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), then rough up the area with sandpaper. After that, clean it again with MEK. Next, apply the adhesion promoter to the surfaces where you are going to apply tape. Now you are ready to apply the double-sided mounting tape. When you applying the tape, leave some of the tape hanging off at each end to use as a pull-tab later. Use the MEK again to clean the area of the body where you will attach the flare. Take care not to erase your grease-pencil outline. Hold the flare in place, pull the tape backing away and press the part firmly onto the body. Using self-tapping screws, secure the part beneath the edge of the wheel well. Do not over tighten the screws or you will split the part.
